This weekend was the annual Pittsburgh Fire, Rescue, and EMS expo at the Monroeville Convention Center. Monroeville Fire Departments have always been big supporters and sponsors of the event, and this year we expanded this even further. For the first time, we added hands on training to the expo. Through the efforts of Deputy Chief Sonafelt, the Monroeville Fire Department Training committee, and the membership of Station 1, we secured the PA State Fire Acadmey mobile flashover for two classes over the weekend. The training was well received and a great experience for all involved. Additionally, Lt. TJ Hartin led an initiative to raffle off two leather fire helmets during the expo, with the money raised going to improvements at the Monroeville Public Safety Training Center that will further enhance the training experiences of Monroeville and surrounding area firefighters. Thanks to everyone who helped, and congratulations to Ken Crooks and Dom Baverso for winning the helmets!
